Transitioning Into A New Season

Dear Friends,

September can bring a lot of change. Children are settling into new school routines, parents are adjusting to fuller schedules, young adults are leaving for college, and others may be returning to work or stepping into a completely new season of life.

Even when these transitions are exciting, they can take more energy than we realize. New schedules, new expectations, and new responsibilities require us to adjust. It’s easy to fill every open space on the calendar and expect ourselves to move forward without missing a beat.

But transitions take energy, and sometimes we need to give ourselves a little more room to adjust.

For children starting a new school year, this might mean protecting some quiet time at home rather than filling every afternoon with activities. For parents, this might mean saying no to extras in order to create the structure your family needs for the school year. For those sending a child off to college or returning to work, it may mean giving yourself permission to acknowledge the emotions that come with such a significant change.

As you move through a season of transition, consider where you can create a little more space to rest, reconnect, and refuel. You don’t have to do everything at once, and you don’t have to adjust overnight.

Sincerely,

The Willow Springs Counseling Team
