Who We Are
About Us
Wellspring was born out of a dream to bring the worlds of pastoral care and professional counseling together. We are a group of licensed counselors, who have also served as ministry leaders within the local church. We are passionate about equipping others with the psychological and spiritual resources they need to think, live, and love in all seasons of their life. We provide professional, Christian based counseling and relationship enrichment resources for individuals, couples, families and the greater Knoxville community.
We understand that the pursuit of counseling is a courageous decision, requiring an investment of your heart and resources. Therefore, we are committed to a standard of excellence in knowledge and care. We use a goal-directed, collaborative approach that paces with the needs of our clients. However, what makes us distinct is the integration of evidenced based psychology with a biblical understanding of relationships, the heart and change. We believe this deeply roots people in grace, hope, and healing.
Finally, Wellspring counselors value working as a team. We take seriously the need to be equipped and available to our clients, so we meet weekly for encouragement, reflection, training, and prayer. We believe that the best work is done with a multitude of advisors and we appreciate learning from each other.
Our Unique Approach
We understand that the pursuit of counseling is a courageous decision, requiring an investment of your heart and resources. Therefore, we are committed to a standard of excellence in knowledge and care. We use a goal-directed, collaborative approach that paces with the needs of our clients. However, what makes us distinct is the integration of evidenced based psychology with a biblical understanding of the heart and change. We believe this deeply roots people in grace, hope, and healing.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life”.- Proverbs 4:23
This Hebrew phrase literally translates, “from the heart are the outflowings or outgoings of life.” Most translations say, “For from it are the springs of life.” The picture is that your heart is like a stream that continually flows out to influence people around you that you come in contact with. Jesus is constantly trying to deal with what’s on the inside because it positions us to deal effectively with what’s going on in world around us.
Our team desires to come alongside and care for the hearts of others. We have each encountered those times of being aware of pain in the heart, but faced uncertainty with what to do about it. The pain and suffering we experience in our lives can often shape our experiences in our outer world (such as our work and relationships), as well as our inner world (such as the emotions and thoughts that take place in our mind). Sometimes, we are able to address these things on our own through our own abilities or resources. However, many times, we can grow much faster if we have a guide to help us in the process.
Our team shares a love and compassion for coming alongside others to help them examine and care for their hearts in ways that will lead to authenticity, hope and freedom. We believe that exploring truth in safety and with grace is often the first step towards real healing.
We are well versed in evidenced-based psychological approaches and draw from many theories. We believe that people need space to process and new tools to implement in their lives in order to experience true change.
Central to human existence is the need for relationships, and all of life’s ups and downs are highly affected by our relationships. This is our sweet spot as a team- supporting, equipping and guiding people to live and love in cadence with God’s design for relationships.
- We help people in the midst of their relational struggles to find the emotional, mental, and spiritual resources they need to think, live, and love in their circumstances.
- Our licensed counselors specialize in the integration of biblical principles and evidenced-based psychology to provide strategies for change.
- We use a family systems approach addressing environmental, interpersonal and intrapersonal factors in our interventions.
- We value the importance of the body of Christ working together and hope to be a healthy relationship hub for the community.
- Because some types of issues are best treated in a group therapy format, we plan to offer group therapies on specific topics as we are able.
- We have a heart for how isolated the counseling profession can be, and hope to create a sense of community to encourage and equip helping professionals in our area. We hope our office allows an opportunity for a space to meet together regularly to build relationships and care for one another in a personal way.
- We provide faith based family-life training and curricula addressing God’s design for marriage, parenting, and building healthy relationships with specific tracks for men and women.
- We provide Biblical counseling courses to counselors who want to grow in the integration of evidenced based psychology and a Biblical worldview.

Second, you may call our main office number at (865)444-8580 and leave a voicemail on a counselor’s direct extension or leave a general inquiry on extension 9.

No, our counselors do not accept insurance. Upon request, our counselors can give you a detailed receipt to seek out-of-network insurance reimbursement from your medical insurance company. Please be aware that a mental health diagnosis will need to be declared on your receipt for your insurance company to deem counseling services medically necessary and, therefore, eligible for reimbursement. Additionally, you would still be responsible to cover the payments of your counseling sessions upfront, and handle all future paperwork/correspondence between yourself and your insurance carrier.
The No Surprises Act
This act requires health care providers to provide clients with a “Good Faith Estimate” in instances when they may lack insurance or insurance is unable to be used for a service. This is a document which outlines the estimated costs for receiving counseling. This protects you as the consumer so that you can plan and be aware of the expected costs up front, and not experience any unexpected surprises. You will receive this Good Faith Estimate by your first appointment.
As part of our office policies, we do ask that you notify your counselor as soon as you are aware of a need to reschedule. Our schedule operates on appointment times, which means that time has been specifically reserved for you. Our office has a 24-hour cancellation policy, meaning if you cancel less than 24 hours in advance, you will be charged the full fee for the session. We do understand that on rare occasions unexpected emergencies can occur and we will take these instances into consideration. Ultimately, we ask that clients keep track of their appointments carefully in order to avoid any additional fees.
In the event of a crisis, please call Mobile Crisis (865-539-2509) or present to your nearest emergency room. Willow Springs Counseling Center operates during weekday business hours and is not equipped with systems necessary to respond to emergencies.
