I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been counseling individuals, couples, and families for 25 years. I understand the relationship between counselor and client is most important and I work to create a non-judgmental environment where clients can freely express their thoughts and emotions. It is a humble privilege to provide support and guidance during some of the most challenging seasons people face. I utilize tailored interventions to empower individuals to recognize their strengths, consider new ways to reflect on their challenges, and make positive changes in their lives. Most recently, I was on staff at Fellowship Church for thirteen years as the clinical director of the Biblical Life Counseling Center, overseeing women’s counseling, marriage counseling, and counseling training. Beyond counseling, I enjoy supervising counselors, writing and teaching about relationships, and building and nurturing teams.
I received my graduate degree in social work from the University of Tennessee and became licensed in 2002. For the first six years of my career, I provided clinical mental health services in acute inpatient and outpatient settings. Through this work, I recognized a need to help individuals understand themselves and heal at a deeper level. This inspired me to take graduate courses in biblical counseling, which developed my passion for integrating the Christian faith into practice.
I have also been highly invested in encouraging families with young children as this is such a challenging and influential season. I directed a ministry called Moms N More for eight years and loved equipping young families with parenting and marriage resources needed to foster a healthy family environment.
I enjoy teaching on anything related to building healthy relationships. I have developed a 12-week study for women called Awaken, which dives into God’s design for relationships, and a parenting seminar called Parenting Foundations, which provides both a big-picture view and practical tools to parent in ways that encourage maturity.
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and three children, taking care of our little farm, relaxing mornings on the front porch, and connecting with friends.
Theories and Therapies
I use an integrative approach based on my client’s needs. I draw from a biblical counseling model, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, developmental psychology, trauma-informed care, family systems theory, Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy, and Gottman Method couple’s therapy.
