When Summer Slows Down…

Dear Friends,

Last month, we reflected on the transition into summer and how changing routines can affect our minds, bodies, and emotions. As summer settles in, many of us find that the slower pace reveals thoughts and feelings we may not notice during busier seasons.

These moments can be an invitation to grow in emotional regulation. This does not mean ignoring or controlling our feelings, but learning to notice them, understand what may be shaping them, and respond with care.

One simple tool is to Catch It, Check It, Change It: notice the thought, ask whether it is true and helpful, and replace it with something more balanced. For example, “I’m failing,” can become, “I’m facing challenges, but I am taking things one step at a time.”

Scripture reminds us to renew our minds and take our thoughts captive (Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 10:5). As we align our thinking with truth, we often find greater peace and resilience.

If this season feels overwhelming, counseling can offer support and practical tools. We would be honored to walk alongside you.

Sincerely,

The Willow Springs Counseling Team
